 The ferry approaches Bergen |
An evening in August 1997 I took the ferry from Hanstholm, Denmark, to Bergen, Norway. After many hours, the ferry arrived in Bergen next afternoon. Bergen have a reputation of having a lot of rain - and of course it was raining when I arrived. |

Through the tourist office I found a place to stay in Bergen - it was a kind of bed & breadfast, without breakfast. It was a family with a big house - they rented some of their rooms to tourists like me. And it was perfect - it was a very old house, form year 17-something, built in classic norwegian style. | The next 3 days I saw some of the things, there is to see in Bergen. Several times I was op on "Fløyen", a small mountain or hill, 320 m high. From the top there is a fantastic view over the Bergen area. There is a special railway you can take up to Fløyen, but I took my bike - also as a kind of preparation for the next days. |  The view from my room (100 kb) |
