Canyonlands National Park is the largest national park in Utah. To the north is the Island in the sky area where you can look down on the Green and Colorado rivers. |

Many million years ago the area was a flat plain. But water has eroded the surface. Where the surface is hard, there has been only little erosion and these parts now stand as mesas. Where the surface was softer, there has been more erosion, and canyons and lowlands is the result. |
