San Francisco have a reputation of being different from other american big cities. I must agree, it is unique with a splendid location by the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay. And the streets are just as steep as you probably have seen in different TV-series and movies - they are VERY steep.
San Francisco has a lot of nationalities - you have the italian North Beach with restaurants, bars and other amusements, the chinese Chinatown, with the largest population of chinese outside China. And names like Russian Hill continues the story. |
A little advice: If you are looking for cameraes, video-recorders and stuff like that, you should be very careful if you shop in Chinatown - I was looking for a zoom for my camera, and they were trying to sell my an unknown brand - but it was easy to see, that the quality wasn't to good. If not saying, that you should avoid them, but be careful about what you buy. | For the tourist that is going to see most of the normal tourist attractions, there's a lot to see: Golden Gate Bridge; Pier 39 with restaurants and shops; Chinatown, Alcatraz, the prison it was impossible to escape from, and a lot of other things. |
