Trenitalia 444 & 447This class of locomotives were made for hauling fast trains ("Rapidi" & TEE/EuroCity) with speed up to 200 km/h. In spite of this the locomotives have the nickname "Tartaruga" - meaning tortoise! Most locomotives were rebuilt 1989 - 1997, with the rebuilt locomotives being called 444R - but all locomotives are now back to 444. More info on wikipedia. | ||

Trenitalia ETR 500The ETR 500 originally consisted of 11 cars with a class E404 motorcar at each end. 2006-2008 all trains were modernised and now normally consists of 10 cars with a class E414 motorcar at each end - all E404 motorcars have been reclassed into E414. More info on Wikipedia. In summer 1997, an ETR 500 was at display at an exhibition of high speed trains in Copenhagen, Denmark. One of the motorcars was E 404 135, I don't know the number of the other. | ||

Trenitalia ETR 500 PETR 500 P has been developed from the original ETR 500. The new Italian high speed lines have been electrified with 25 kV 50 Hz, and the ETR 500 P can operate under both 25 kV 50 Hz as well as 3 kV DC - the original ETR 500 can only operate under 3 kV DC. Most of the ETR 500 P are in Frecciarossa livery. | ||
