MODERN EUROPEAN LOCOMOTIVES |
Home > Trains > Modern european locomotives | |
In the latest years there has been a change in the european locomotive scene. Traditionally every country developed its own locomotives. Because of different standards on overhead wires, signaling etc., the crossing of borders normally involved changing locomotives. | This is changing. The liberalisation of the railway in many european countries, especially for freight traffic, has introduced many, smaller operators, leasing or buying new, modern locomotives that can run under different overhead and signalling systems. These modern locomotives are by a handful of companies.
On this page I show examples of these modern european locomotives. |
